The Town of Grand Valley is committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive community for all residents. Through the Town’s By-law Enforcement Policy, staff respond to complaints and, where authorized, conduct proactive enforcement of certain by-laws.
Property Standards
Our Property Standards By-law regulates property maintenance and occupancy standards. These regulations ensure public safety in or around existing buildings or on vacant land.
Clean Yards By-Law
Our Clean Yards By-law is enforced proactively, allowing staff to identify and address property maintenance concerns such as excessive weeds, debris, refuse, and other conditions that may negatively impact neighbouring properties or the community.
Complaints Process
If you have a concern about a property standards issue, please complete and submit a complaint form to the Town of Grand Valley Office in person, or by email to bhaines@townofgrandvalley.ca
Please note that complaints may be used as evidence in a court of law should this matter proceed to that level.
The By-law Enforcement and Property Standards Officer will investigate and determine if the property standards by-law has been violated. If the property does not conform to the by-law, a property standards order is issued to the owner of the property. If an owner disagrees with the order or a portion of the order, they may appeal to Council.
