Tax Certificates
When a property is being sold, the purchaser requires information current property taxes and arrears. Occasionally, property owners require verification of the status of their property tax account, and a tax certificate may be required. To purchase a tax certificate, email taxes@townofgrandvalley.ca or call our office at 519-928-5652 or fax your request to 519-928-2275.

Applying for a Marriage Licence
Marriage licenses can be issued by the Town of Grand Valley, within 3 months of the proposed date of marriage.
You will need to complete an Ontario Marriage License Application Form. Applications can be submit online at Getting married/ontario.ca or by dropping of the completed application to Town Hall located at 5 Main Street North from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
If previously married, you must provide an original or court certified copy of the decree absolute or an original Certificate of Divorce. Divorce judgements and orders are not acceptable, nor are photocopies.
Appointments are required to obtain your marriage license. We encourage both applicants attend together; however, if only one person can attend, they will need proper documents for the absent person. Two pieces of government issued identification will be required.
Appointments are generally 20 minutes in length.
At your appointment:
- application information will be reviewed with you;
- identification and any documentation will be reviewed;
- a marriage licence will be processed; and
- payment for your licence will be received.
Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

Upon arrival at your booked appointment, your application will be processed as you wait and you will leave with an official marriage license. Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

The fee for a marriage license is $115.00, payable by cash, debit or credit card.
Along with your completed Marriage License Application form, both applicants will need to have two pieces of government issued identification. Once piece must be photo ID. Valid government ID includes a:
- Birth certificate, including any change of name certificates
- Valid passport
- Record of immigration landing
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Valid driver's license
- Valid Ontario Photo Card
If both applicants can't attend in person, one applicant can bring the above identification requirements for both applicants.
If you are divorced or widowed and applying for a marriage license, you will need to review the Government of Ontario guidelines to make sure you have all of the necessary paperwork.
Applicants under 18 years of age
In order to get a marriage license in Ontario, you must be at least 16 years of age. Review the Government of Ontario age regulations to determine what you need to get a marriage license under the age of 18.
