What is a Voter Information Letter and when will I receive a Voter Information Letter? |
Voter Information Letters include a code (a PIN) which is unique to you and which is to be used by you only. You use the code and your date of birth to access your ballot. Keep your Voter Information Letter safe - it is your private document. Voter Information Letters have been mailed to the address which has been provided to the Town from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). If you do not receive your Voter Information Letter by October 14, 2022 please contact us to discuss. |

Nomination Process for CandidatesThe nomination period for individuals to register as candidates has changed as a result of recent amendments to the Municipal Elections Act. The nomination period now begins May 2nd and ends on August 19, 2022. Nominations forms (Form 1) will be accepted at the Municipal Office during regular business hours from May 2, 2022 to August 18, 2022. Appointments are recommended. Note: If filed by an agent, photo identification of the candidate is required. Facsimile transmissions, e-mail or mail-in nomination forms are not permitted. Nomination packages are available at the Municipal Office. Filing FeesCandidates who are qualified to file a nomination must complete the prescribed Nomination Paper - Form 1 with the required filing fee. The required filing fee is:

Candidate Financial Statements |
For a campaign period ending December 31, 2022, Financial Statements must be filed by all candidates on or before 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, There is a 30 day grace period for late filing that includes a late filing fee of $500. If a candidate is not able to meet the deadline, he/she may apply to the Superior Court of Justice prior to the March 31st deadline for an extension. |
Compliance Audit Committee |
Each municipality and school board must appoint a Compliance Audit Committee (CAC). The role of the Compliance Audit Committee is to receive and make decisions on applications for compliance audits of candidates' and registered third party election campaign finances. The CAC is also responsible for reviewing reports submitted by the Clerk with respect to any contributor who appears to have contravened any of the contribution limits to a candidate's election campaign or to a registered third party election campaign. |

Appointment of Councillor
At the Special Meeting of Council, July 20, 2021, Council for the Town of Grand Valley appointed Paul Latam to the position of Councillor. Mr. Latam will be sworn in at the August 10, 2021 Regular Meeting of Council.
2019 Council Vacancy
Appointment of Councillor
At the Special Meeting of Council, October 3, 2019, Council for the Town of Grand Valley appointed Stephen Miles to the position of Councillor. Mr. Miles will be sworn in at the October 8, 2019 Regular Meeting of Council.
