Burning in Grand Valley
The Town of Grand Valley regulates the setting of fires within the municipality under By-law 2021-31. Most fires require either a permit or a special permit from the Fire Chief. Review below for details or read the by-law at this link: 2021-31 Grand Valley Burning By-law
Recreational Fires
All recreational fires (or "campfires") on private property require a burning permit. By-law 2021-31 contains all the rules for burning, including the size, setbacks, safety rules, and any enforcement provisions. You can only have a recreational fire after you have obtained a burning permit.

Special Burning Permits
For all fires not described in By-law 2021-31 (e.g., burning a demolished building, large fire requests), a special permit must first be obtained directly from the Fire Chief of the Grand Valley and District Fire Department. To apply for a special permit, you must email the Chief by clicking Email the Chief to request a site visit and inspection.
