Storytime Curbside Craft Kits will be limited to 25 registrants. All other Programs will be limited to 12 registrants. When registering, please provide the full name and age of your child so we are placing them in the proper age-related program.

Basic supplies such as scissors, glue, pencil/eraser, tape, markers, colouring pencils/crayons, paint, etc. would be your responsibility to provide. Unique items, such as templates or pre-made kit items, embellishments, or specialty items needed for our crafts will be included in the Curbside Craft Kit that we provide.

Note: Please pick up your kit on the scheduled day of your program. Failure to pick up your curbside craft kits after two consecutive weeks will result in your name being removed from the list for the remainder of the month. If you have registered for a program, all craft kits will be labelled with your name on the bag and placed on our pickup table. Space is limited on the table, (we have 4 curbside clubs operating) therefore we ask you to please follow the program guidelines. It is time consuming and costly to create the kits if they are not being picked up and utilized in a timely fashion, so please consider this when registering your child and making a commitment.

Curbside programs are offered to all GV Library Card holders and/or residents of Grand Valley, Amaranth, and East Garafraxa.

Fall/Winter Virtual Programs

Baby & Toddler Time - Age 0-3

Our Baby & Toddler Time is now offered to you virtually via a Baby & Toddler Time Video hosted the first Monday of the month from September until June. Each video is approximately 10 minutes long; designed to engage your child and you.

Sing along to songs, follow along with a live story reading, poems, themes, fingerplays and rhymes for you to say along to your child. Offering this once per month with a theme in mind, to help with repetition and familiarity in young children; a crucial stage in child development. Watch it as often as you like whenever you like.

Story Time - Friday, Age 3-5, kit ready for pick up on Fridays

Follow along with us as we read a storybook aloud to you; directed towards children ages 3-5, however, babies, toddlers, and caregivers may also enjoy being read to! It is also a great way to start early literacy learning by hearing words, letter sounds, and pronunciation.

Each story will be read and recorded live for your child's enjoyment.

Join us weekly on Fridays for a new Storytime video

After you've read the story, follow along with our Storytime Craft tutorial. Craft ideas will follow the theme of the story for that week. Registration is required by the first of the month if you wish to receive a free curbside craft kit. Craft kits are ready on Friday each week and should be picked up that day. You are welcome to provide your own craft materials and follow along with our video tutorial too!

Snacks & Crafts - Thursday, Age 10+, kit ready for pick up on Thursdays

Teen Connection - Age 12-18, kits offered four times per year (temporary) Mar/June/Sept/Dec

During Covid-19 regulations, we are temporarily offering a curbside kit for teens to complete at home. These kits will include several, more elaborate projects, with more thought involved and materials provided. Written instructions will be contained and a video tutorial will only be offered when necessary. We understand teens would prefer more personal interaction but at this time none of our programs can meet given the Government guidelines on public health/safety. Our thought was to offer some online, general interest and informational programs, but teens have also expressed that they are overwhelmed by the various online meetings and learning platforms they already have to commit to. So, at this time, we have made the decision to offer a quarterly curbside craft/interest kit to any teen who wishes to register. Maximum 12 registrants. Check our FaceBook page or Calendar for details.
